UDOT advises motorists to plan for lane closures in Utah, Salt Lake counties

Several projects to impact I-15, Redwood Road

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is reminding drivers to be aware of construction that could impact weekend travel in Utah and Salt Lake counties, including:
Utah County

  • Bridge beam installation: The intersection of Redwood Road and 2100 North in Lehi will be closed every night starting at 9:30 p.m. for up to three weeks as crews place beams for a new bridge. On weekdays, closures will last from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. (However, Saturday and Sunday morning closures will last longer, ending as late as 9 a.m.) During the nightly closures, Redwood Road will be closed to all through traffic and left turns at the intersection will be prohibited. However, to keep traffic in this vital corridor moving, right turns will be maintained in all directions.

Salt Lake County

  • Pavement work: Nightly lane closures on southbound I-15 from Midvale to Sandy will begin on Monday, Feb. 24 while crews repair the concrete on the freeway. Lane closures and shifting traffic partners will occur Monday-Thursday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night. However, beginning on Sunday, Mar. 2, lane shifts will occur Sunday-Thursday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. This closure is expected to last through the fall.
  • New traffic pattern: Beginning as early as Friday, Feb. 21, crews will remove the signal lights and the intersection of 9800 South and Bangerter Highway. While drivers will not be able to access Bangerter Highway from 9800 South, traffic on north and southbound Bangerter Highway will be free-flowing and drivers can still exit at 9800 South. This traffic pattern will remain in place until October of 2025.

Additionally, UDOT plans to reopen 3200 West under SR-201 in West Valley City/Salt Lake City this Saturday, Feb. 22. The road had been closed since last summer while crews reconstructed the SR-201 bridge over 3200 West.

Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.
