UDOT to permanently close Shepard Lane overpass in Farmington

Crews will prepare the bridge for demolition
The Utah Department of Transportation will permanently close the Shepard Lane overpass in Farmington as early as May 7.
The old bridge will be demolished in June to make way for the new Shepard Lane interchange.
East and west traffic on Shepard Lane will be detoured to Burton Lane in Kaysville until the end of 2025, when the new Shepard Lane interchange will be open for travel.
UDOT is building a new interchange at Shepard Lane to reduce congestion and enhance safety in the area. It will add several new improvements to provide Utahns more choices in the way they travel, including a 10-foot wide shared-use trail, new sidewalks and a pedestrian bridge.
The new Shepard Lane interchange will cross over Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) and Utah Transit Authority (UTA) tracks to improve pedestrian and bike connectivity along Park Lane, and the ramps associated with I-15, US-89, and Legacy Parkway (SR-67).
The new interchange is anticipated to open in late 2026.
“As Davis County continues to thrive, we are working hard to provide everyone with better options to bike, walk, drive and travel in the way they choose,” UDOT Region One Director Rob Wight said.
