I-15 in Davis County to close overnight for two Saturdays

Crews will demolish old Shepard Lane bridge as crews continue work on new interchange

The Utah Department of Transportation is preparing for two overnight closures of I-15 in Davis County to demolish the Shepard Lane bridge.

This weekend on Saturday, June 14, southbound I-15 between 200 North and Park Lane will close from 9:30 p.m. through 11 a.m. on June 15. A week later, on Saturday, June 21, northbound I-15 between 200 North and Park Lane will close from 9:30 p.m. through 11 a.m. on June 22.

These closures will create a safe work zone for crews to demolish the Shepard Lane bridge, which was permanently closed in May. Drivers will be detoured to U.S. Route 89 and Main Street in Kaysville during the closures.

UDOT is building a new interchange at Shepard Lane in Farmington to reduce congestion and enhance safety in the area. Not only will the interchange cross over Union Pacific Railroad and Utah Transit Authority tracks to create another connection to local roads, this project will also improve pedestrian and bike connectivity along Park Lane, and the ramps associated with I-15, US-89, and Legacy Parkway (State Route 67). The new interchange is anticipated to open in late 2026.

Drivers traveling through Salt Lake County this weekend should also be aware of the following traffic impacts:

  • Eastbound Interstate 80 in Parley’s Canyon: Crews will close eastbound lanes and ramps at Exits 132-134 between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. through June 14 for paving. Detours are posted, with the alternative route being Lambs Canyon (Exit 137) and heading westbound.
  • Eastbound I-80 in Salt Lake: I-80 between 5600 West and Wright Brothers Drive will be reduced to one lane each night every day this week from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. to repair bridge beams. These lane reductions will remain in place until 6 a.m. on June 16.
