UDOT to improve northbound SR-36 and eastbound I-80 in Tooele County
June 12, 2025
Drivers should plan for temporary lane closures on SR-36 between I-80 and Stansbury Parkway
The Utah Department of Transportation is starting a project to improve mobility and reduce congestion for drivers on SR-36 in Tooele.

Weekday lane closures of northbound SR-36 will begin on June 16 and continue through the summer of 2026, with nighttime work as needed. I-80 will also have reduced lane widths during construction.
Once finished, this project will widen northbound SR-36 to three lanes between I-80 and Stansbury Park, as well as adding an auxiliary lane on eastbound I-80 from the SR-36 on-ramp to the State Route 201 exit.
UDOT is also busy widening southbound SR-36 between Sunset Road and Stansbury Parkway. This work is expected to wrap up this summer.
