Repaving and lane striping work to close freeway ramps
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (June 19, 2025) — The Utah Department of Transportation will close several major interstate ramps this weekend for construction.
On Saturday, June 21 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, June 23, the Interstate 215 eastbound ramp to southbound Interstate 15 will be closed while crews repave the freeway. That night, crews will also close the 7200 South on-ramp to I-15 southbound .

Traffic will be detoured to northbound I-15 and directed to turn around at the 5300 South exit. During this time crews will be busy completing concrete repairs.
Additionally, further north on Saturday, June 21, from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m., the southbound Interstate 215 ramp between Legacy Parkway and Interstate 15 will be closed while crews place new lane striping. Traffic will be detoured to 500 South.
Then, from Sunday, June 22 at 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., the lane striping crew will close the northbound I-215 ramp between Legacy Parkway and I-15. Traffic will be detoured to Interstate 80.
This work is part of the Enhanced Freeway Striping project, the largest restriping project in state history, which is replacing lane markings on portions of Wasatch Front freeways with new, wider lines designed for high visibility and reflectivity. This contrast striping, also known as “tiger tail” striping, includes a white line followed by a black line for the lines in between lanes. In addition to being easier to see, the contrast is helpful for autonomous vehicle sensors and cameras.
The new lane striping also uses retroreflective tape, applied in pavement grooves, for better durability and improved nighttime and wet-condition reflectivity.
