Bridge deck pour at 2700 West in Bluffdale marks another major milestone in UDOT’s effort to upgrade Bangerter Highway
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (July 30, 2025) — Drivers on Bangerter Highway will begin traveling on brand-new pavement beneath the new interchange at 13400 South tomorrow — a major milestone in UDOT’s effort to remove stoplights and make Bangerter more like a freeway.

Crews will shift traffic under the bridge in phases, with all lanes expected to be moved onto the new alignment by Monday, August 4. This shift signals visible progress on the Riverton interchange, one of four now under construction as part of UDOT’s plan to improve safety and traffic flow along Bangerter Highway.
Left turns at 13400 South from Bangerter Highway will be restricted during the weekend shift, from Friday night through Monday at 5 a.m. Drivers should follow posted signs and allow extra travel time during the transition.
“Driving under the bridge is a big sign that this project is moving forward,” UDOT Region 2 Director Robert Stewart said. “It’s always exciting when people can start using parts of the new infrastructure — it makes the progress feel real.”
The temporary stoplight for the left-turn lane from northbound Bangerter Highway to westbound 13400 South will remain until east and westbound travel reopens in October.
Meanwhile, progress continues on the new Bangerter interchange at 2700 West in Bluffdale, where crews will pour the bridge deck on July 31, marking a key milestone in construction.
Once the interchanges currently under construction at 4700 South, 9800 South, 13400 South, and 2700 West are complete, Bangerter Highway will be free flowing without stoplights from I-15 to 4100 South. With more than 60,000 vehicles using Bangerter Highway each day, these upgrades will enhance safety and reduce delays for drivers across the Salt Lake Valley’s west side.
