Major milestone for new Shepard Lane interchange brings overnight lane closures to I-15

UDOT to reduce freeway to one lane in both directions Friday night from Kaysville to Farmington for bridge deck pour

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (Aug. 1, 2025) — Drivers across the Wasatch Front should plan for major delays Friday night as the Utah Department of Transportation pours concrete for the deck of the new Shepard Lane bridge — a key milestone in the ongoing I-15 reconstruction project in Davis County.

From 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 1, to 7 a.m. Saturday, August 2, both northbound and southbound I-15 will be reduced to one lane between 200 North in Kaysville and Park Lane in Farmington while crews work on the new bridge deck.

UDOT is urging all drivers to plan ahead, expect delays and use caution through the work zone.

UDOT is building a new interchange at Shepard Lane to reduce congestion and enhance safety in the area. It will add several new improvements to provide Utahns with more choices in the way they travel, including a 10-foot wide shared-use trail, new sidewalks and a pedestrian bridge.

The new Shepard Lane interchange will cross over Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) and Utah Transit Authority (UTA) tracks to improve pedestrian and bike connectivity along Park Lane, and the ramps associated with I-15, U.S. Route 89 and Legacy Parkway (State Route 67).

The new interchange is anticipated to open in late 2026.

“This is a big moment in our work to build the new Shepard Lane interchange,” Senior Communication Manager Mitch Shaw said. “Once complete, it’s going to make a real difference for families and commuters in this thriving part of Davis County.”
