I-15 to fully close in Riverdale this weekend
August 21, 2025
Crews will demolish the bridge at 4400 South on Saturday night
The Utah Department of Transportation is urging Northern Utah travelers to plan ahead for a full closure of Interstate 15 in Weber County this Saturday.

On Saturday, August 23 at 10 p.m. to Sunday, August 24 at 8:30 a.m., crews will close both directions of travel on I-15 in Riverdale while crews demolish the 4400 South bridge over the freeway.
Drivers should use the Interstate 84 ramps and Riverdale Road detour routes. Ogden Airport travelers should use 31st Street to access the airport.
This work is part of a project to replace three bridges in Riverdale. The bridges were built in the 1960s and have been carefully maintained for more than 50 years. However, maintenance can only extend a bridge’s life so far. Replacing them now will provide safe, long-lasting connections that meet today’s traffic demands.
While traditional methods will be used to build the 4400 South bridge, UDOT will be using accelerated bridge construction (ABC) technology for the other I-84 ramp bridges in this project. ABC is a safe and efficient process, as it results in better-quality bridges and an accelerated schedule. The project was originally expected to wrap up in late 2026, but with ABC’s accelerated schedule, the project is now estimated to wrap up in summer of 2026.
UDOT reminds drivers that construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change. For the latest information on traffic restrictions during construction, visit the UDOT Traffic website or download the UDOT Traffic app for iPhone or Android.
