The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), in collaboration with St. George City, is conducting a State Environmental Study (SES) to evaluate the potential environmental impacts of proposed improvements on SR-18 (Bluff Street) in St. George, Utah.

UDOT proposes to utilize state funding for roadway enhancements along SR-18 from Convention Center Dr. (MP 0.00) to St. George Blvd. (MP 2.01). The project aims to increase corridor capacity by widening SR-18, adding a southbound travel lane, turn lanes at select intersections, and consistent shoulders. Additional improvements include pavement rehabilitation, a multi-use trail, drainage enhancements, utility relocations or adjustments, and traffic signal upgrades.

To enhance safety, the project will introduce a raised median between Main St. and 100 South, incorporating landscaping where appropriate. Right-of-way acquisition or easements will be necessary at various locations to facilitate these improvements.

UDOT encourages area residents and businesses to attend a public hearing regarding the above-proposed Bluff Street enhancements. The hearing will be held in an open house-type format on Thursday, April 24 from 5 to 7:00 p.m. at Dixie Middle School, 929 S 100 E, St. George, UT 84770. The open house will include informational display boards, project information handouts, provisions to accommodate oral and written comments, and project team members to answer questions.
