Up to 55 minute delays on US-6 expected on the holiday
The Utah Department of Transportation is urging drivers to prepare for travel delays on Memorial Day weekend, with significant delays on Interstate 15 and U.S. Highway 6.
On Friday, May 23, drivers can expect the following delays:

- Eastbound US-6: Up to 10 minute delays between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m.
On May 24 and May 25, drivers traveling from St. George or Cedar City to Zion may see an additional delay of 10-15 minutes between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., with peak delays occurring around 11 a.m.
On Monday, May 26, drivers can expect the following delays:

To help drivers plan travel to southern Utah’s recreation areas, UDOT is launching a new transportation information resource for traveling in the Zion National Park area as part of its Roads to Recreation program. The program informs travelers about special-interest areas, including the Cottonwood Canyons, Wasatch Back, and now the Zion Area.

UDOT Zion Area will provide status updates on road, traffic and parking conditions outside of Zion National Park on SR-9, and educational content for trip planning across southwestern Utah. Beginning May 21, travelers can visit zionarea.udot.utah.gov or follow @udotzionarea on Instagram and Facebook.
“The iconic landscapes in the Zion area draw tourism from all over the world,” UDOT Traveler Information Director Becky Parker said. “Our goal with this new extension of Roads to Rec is to provide everyone, from visitors to locals, with helpful information. Whether it’s a once-in-a lifetime visit or a weekly one, we want to give them the transportation information they need to enjoy their trip.”
Across the state, most UDOT projects will suspend construction and open all lanes to traffic to help reduce delays over the holiday weekend, but certain existing lane restrictions or traffic shifts will remain in place as needed to protect the work zone and ensure safety.
