Region One

Road closures:

  • SR-39 ‘Ogden Canyon’ Ogden City may keep the canyon closed past 7 am on Wednesday, Sept 11 due to the water line break. [ Use Alternate route of SR-167 (Trappers Loop) to I-84 ]
  • SR-39 ‘Ogden Canyon’ Nighttime Closure: Monday, Sept. 9 from 10 pm – 7 am and Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 10 pm – 7 am. [ Use Alternate route of SR-167 (Trappers Loop) to I-84 ]
  • All lanes underneath I-15 at 5600 South (SR-97) will close as early as Friday, Sept. 6 from 7 p.m. – 5 a.m. to accommodate the bridge deck concrete placement operation. Drivers can access all I-15 NB/SB on and off ramps and detour via Riverdale Rd. to 1900 W to access 5600 S.
  • Freeway Park Dr. and Ritter Dr.*
  • No access to 5600 South (SR-97) from Freeway Park Dr. while crews complete utility work through early September. Drivers should use alternate routes and expect minimal delays.
  • The intersection of Freeway Park Dr. and Ritter Dr. will remain closed through mid-September to accommodate waterline work. Drivers can detour via 1500 W/Freeway Park Dr., expect short-term delays, and occasional flagging operations.
  • I-15 NB and Riverdale Rd Exit: Beginning Sept. 29, crews will close the existing I-15 NB on-ramp. The current I-15 NB off-ramp will shift. Drivers will travel the new Collector Distributor (CD) to access I-15 NB, Riverdale Rd, and Freeway Park Dr. Effective through Summer 2024
  • SR-158 (Powder Mountain): Alternating one-way traffic is now in effect and controlled by temporary traffic signals around the clock. Be prepared to stop. Expect delays of up to 20 minutes. Remember not to stop or park between the two temporary signals. Through Fall 2024

Region One covers the northern part of the state, including the following counties: Box Elder, Cache, Davis, Morgan, Rich and Weber.

Our responsibility is to construct and maintain state roadways in the safest, most efficient manner possible.


Approximately 235 full-time employees work for Region One. We manage 942 center-line miles and 2655 lane miles of state roadway. Region One includes two national forests, one national historic site, seven state parks and three state highways designated “Scenic Byways.”
